Who said the fresh fruit is it good only in summer? The colder periods can reserve pleasant culinary surprises based on fruit; if you think only of citrus jams and hot pies just out of the oven it is already an achievement but if the procedure for the jam is too long, you can aim for something simpler, always taking advantage of the seasonal fruit of the winter months.

An example is given by Caramellised Oranges (the ingredients are listed at the bottom of the article). A winter dessert wonderful and easy to prepare: buy organic oranges from a small grower, 8 is enough for 6 people. Wash them well, peel them and cut them into thin slices.

In a pot of terra cotta (or with a thick bottom), dissolve some sugar with 300 ml of water. The fire must be kept on low heat because you have to ensure that the water does not boil until all the sugar has dissolved. Only when you have obtained a homogeneous mixture can you raise the heat and boil the mixture until you get an almost golden color. At this point you will have obtained your caramel. Remove it from the heat and place the entire pot in a pan with two fingers of water. This procedure must be carried out to prevent the sugar from caramelizing further becoming bitter.
To yours caramel, add the other 300 ml of hot water, mix and pour the caramel over your oranges. Sprinkle with cinnamon.

If you like, you can use brandy instead of water (for example, 250 ml of water and 50 ml of brandy). The Caramellised Oranges they can both be served with a nice one hot chocolate, the ideal would be the dark one with a splash of cream, or, alternatively, with two scoops of vanilla ice cream sprinkled with some cinnamon.
Any other quick ideas? Citrus fruits, especially oranges and clementines, can be dried and enjoyed with a good chocolate fondue.
