A broken capillary it is a very frequent phenomenon in men and women. While they certainly do not represent the end of the world, they are a blemish that many people find particularly annoying, especially when broken capillaries appear on their face.

Thankfully, with the right tools and measures, you can not only get rid of them forever, but also prevent another broken capillary from appearing on your skin in the future.

Recognize broken capillaries

The first thing to do is understand if what you have on your face is actually a broken capillary, or less. To do this ... you can only resort to the diagnosis of a dermatologist, considering that it would be advisable to avoid do-it-yourself on your skin (it is appropriate to say!). In general, however, broken capillaries are enlarged blood vessels just below the surface of the skin that look like blood-red marks with a "spider" or "branch" shape.

The causes of broken capillaries

In general, broken capillaries are caused by trauma cutaneous. Think of when you squeeze a pimple too hard, intense microdermabrasion, sneezing, excessive dilation of blood vessels due to hot showers, cold and winter air, consumption of spicy foods, exercise or alcohol consumption.

The walls of the capillaries are very elastic and i blood vessels they can lose their ability to contract if they are dilated a lot and often, thus causing them to remain enlarged.

Unfortunately, it should also be remembered that the genetics plays an important role in the predisposition to rupture of blood vessels: more common in anyone with sensitive skin, acne or rosacea, they spread mainly in winter, thanks to the variations between hot and cold temperatures.

Remedies for broken capillaries

Having clarified the above, let's move on to some bad news: once the broken fragile capillaries are on your face, they will be there forever, unless you attend to a dermatologist through the use of specific tools.

Therefore, the over-the-counter remedies that you can easily find on the market will not completely solve the problem, but will only serve to mitigate it (this is the case of those products that contain anti-inflammatory ingredients, such as rosehip oil, which could minimize the redness).

In short, the only real and effective way to get rid of them is to intervene with a laser treatment which, obviously, certainly cannot be carried out at home. Lasers for vascular lesions, such as rupture of capillaries, work by heating the blood inside the vessels, and leading to inflammation and scarring within the blood vessels, the external manifestation of which will fade over the course of 4-6 weeks. The treatment is painless, fast and very effective.

Of course, of aesthetic treatment still it is. Therefore, before starting with too optimism to approach this kind of intervention, take care to talk about it with particular attention and sharing with your referring doctor. Generally, in fact, although this laser treatment is now standard for vascular spots on the face, people with darker skin should be more careful to avoid side effects, such as permanent damage to their face. There are also specific remedies for them, such as particular lasers, and it is precisely for this reason that it is advisable to share with the dermatologist what to do.

For what concern cost of treatment that can remedy broken capillaries, the market price essentially depends on where you live, the doctor you are contacting and how big the broken capillary is. Generally speaking, you can expect to pay between € 150 and € 400 per session. It might seem expensive but ... after all it is the only really useful way to permanently get rid of broken blood vessels!

Preventing broken capillaries

But how to prevent broken capillaries? It is quite simple. Try to:

  • always wear sunscreen; the capillary walls weaken with exposure to UV rays, and therefore wearing good sunscreen can potentially prevent the development of some broken capillaries;
  • use gentle exfoliants; opt only and exclusively for soft exfoliants, avoiding the most intense scrub, which could damage the skin, rather than removing dead skin cells, oils and grease from your pores;
  • do not overdo it with water hot: you certainly don't have to do without showers, but try not to exceed the water temperature. You will put your skin at risk the hotter the water!
